What treatment options are offered for men?
Men can experience issues with pelvic function including urinary incontinence, bowel incontinence, chronic constipation, ED, and pain. We specialize in post-proctatectomy rehabilitation to help you regain your independence after surgery. Pelvic Physical Therapy can help you regain your sexual functioning, reduce and eliminate incontinence, reduce pain, and help you return to the quality of life you desire. Evaluation and treatment may include:
- Manual therapy to restore pelvic and lumbar symmetry, reduce muscle tension, increase flexibility, improve joint mobility, and address scar tissue
- Functional re-training of posture, body mechanics, faulty movement patterns, and therapeutic exercise for coordination of abdominal and pelvic floor muscles
- Patient education for improved functional activities of daily living individualized home exercise program to build strength and improve flexibility, relaxation, and bowel and bladder habits
- Biofeedback for pain or incontinence
- Instantaneous performance-dependent feedback regarding the function of muscles to increase self regulation, awareness, and control
- Electrical stimulation
- Used to treat stress incontinence, urge incontinence, pain, urinary and/or bowel retention
